May Day revived for OSUM anniversary Campus rock concert features eight bands Ohio State Marion Communications The Ohio State University at Marion’s annual May Day student event was a fixture on campus for over twenty-years before being cancelled more than a decade ago. The popular evening of live music, food, and refreshments, that drew hords of young adults from both the campus and the north central Ohio area, will again be the centerpiece of a student committee’s celebration plans of Ohio State’s fiftieth anniversary in Marion. Much like May Day’s of past, May Day 2007 will feature live rock music, Saturday, May 19, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Unlike past May Day’s this will be an alcohol free event. Only soft drinks will be served. Eight live bands, some with local ties, will perform on stage at the Marion campus. The event is free and open to the public. Students, assisted by the Ohio State Marion Office of Student Activities, have been planning the event for the past six months. They have received commitments from all the groups scheduled to perform, are planning for security and a night of fun. Pizza and pop will be sold out of the Alber Student Center. The location of the main stage is currently firmed up. Those in attendance will also be able to purchase T-shirts emblazoned with the May Day logo, the date, and names of all the bands performing. Expected to take the stage on May 19: 5 p.m. Hollow 6 p.m. State Your Cause 7 p.m. Halo Effect 8 p.m. 30 Ought 6 9 p.m. Isonbridge 10 p.m. Last Minute Notice 11 p.m. Aera Lee 12 p.m. Citizen 18 In addition to the May Day 07 concert, campus student organizations will join in the campus’s golden anniversary celebration the week of May 12-19 with special student events, such as comedy night and karaoke night.
